The 11th annual Conference for Healthcare Transparency and Safety, sponsored by Kentucky-based Health Watch USA and Consumers Union's Safe Patient Project, will be held Nov. 3 at the Four Points Sheraton in Lexington, off Newtown Pike near Interstates 64 and 75. The cost, including lunch, is $48 ($35 for full-time students).
Speakers will include Deborah Nelson, a Pulitzer Prize winning-investigative reporter, speaking on conflicts of interest and infectious-disease policy; Dr. Ivan Oranski, distinguished writer in residence at New York University and co-founder of Retraction Watch, on articles that have been retracted from peer-reviewed medical journals; Lisa McGiffert, director of the Safe Patient Project, on patient safety and health-care accountability.
